Woman charged with identity theft

AMES, Iowa A woman accused of taking 30-thousand dollars from a dead person's bank account has been charged with identity theft.

Ames police arrested 28-Angela Reis of Story City this week. She also faces charges of first-degree theft, fraudulent practices and tampering with records.

Reis is accused of stealing the identity of someone who died in April. Police say she used her personal computer to complete a bank transaction and withdrew 30-thousand dollars from the dead person's bank account.

Police say she also tried to use a fake will and other documents to withdraw nearly 52-thousand dollars more from the account and opened a credit card account in the dead person's name.

Officials say Reis knew, but was not related to the person who died.
